Bolivia and European Union hold high-level talks

La Paz, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rogelio Mayta, will hold a meeting with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, as part of a tour.

‘The visit to the EU will allow the revision of the agreements reached in the VIII High Level Dialogue,held in 2022, between the EU and Bolivia as well as to discuss issues of mutual interest and cooperation with Spain and the Human Rights Council’, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while explaining about Tuesday’s meeting with the also Vice President of the European Commission.

This is Mayta’s second stop on his journey, which began on Monday with an audience with Pope Francis in the Vatican City, where they discussed issues on bilateral agendas as well as on the world context, especially Latin America.

During his stay in the Vatican, the minister met with the Bolivian ambassador, Teresa Subieta, and the Bolivian community in Rome, who expressed their needs and demands regarding the exercise of their rights as migrants.

Mayta will continue his journey on February 1st in Geneva, Switzerland, where he will meet with Volker Türk, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The tour will conclude on February 3rd in Spain, where Mayta will talk with his counterpart José Manuel Albares to “continue strengthening the ties of cooperation, complementary and brotherhood,” according to what Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Freddy Mamani said on Monday.

Bolivia y Unión Europea en Diálogo de Alto Nivel

La Paz, 31 ene (Prensa Latina) El Ministro de Relaciones Exterioresde Bolivia, Rogelio Mayta, sostendrá una reunión como parte de una gira con el alto representante de la Unión Europea para Asuntos Exteriores y Política de Seguridad, Josep Borrell.

‘La visita a la UE permitirá revisar los acuerdos pactados en el VIII Diálogo de Alto Nivel entre UE y Bolivia realizado el 2022, así como dialogar sobre temas de mutuo interés y cooperación con España y el Consejo de Derechos Humanos’, informó el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, al ampliar sobre el encuentro de este martes con el también vicepresidente de la Comisión Europea.

Se trata de la segunda escala de Mayta en este periplo iniciado el lunes con una audiencia con el papa Francisco, en la Ciudad del Vaticano, donde conversaron sobre temas de la agenda bilateral, así como del contexto mundial, en especial de Latinoamérica.

Durante su estancia en la Ciudad del Vaticano, el ministro se reunió con la embajadora boliviana, Teresa Subieta, así como con la comunidad de connacionales en Roma, quienes expresaron sus necesidades y demandas respecto al ejercicio de sus derechos como migrantes.

Mayta continuará el periplo el 1 de febrero en Ginebra, Suiza, ciudad en la que se reunirá con Volker Türk, Alto Comisionado de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) para los Derechos Humanos.

La gira concluirá el 3 de febrero en España, donde Mayta dialogará con su par, José Manuel Albares, para ‘seguir fortaleciendo los lazos de cooperación, complementariedad y hermandad’, según expresó la víspera el Viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores Freddy Mamani.
