According to the Planalto Palace, the seat of the Executive Power, the meeting between the two leaders will also represent the resumption of relations between Brazil and Germany and also the recommencement of political, economic, and environmental cooperation.
According to the official program, Lula will receive Scholz at a ceremony at the Planalto Palace, followed by a bilateral and a parallel meeting between entrepreneurs and ministers.
Regarding the MERCOSUR-EU agreement, Scholz recently said in Argentina, “it is important that we have a constructive spirit. We should work together to find a way forward so that negotiations end successfully.”
He stressed the importance of implementing the two blocs’ compromise reached in 2019 and whose ratification will be the pact´s goal.
Geraldo Alckmin, Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, expects to meet with entrepreneurs from both countries and German Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze.
Scholz will fulfill the second trip of a Teutonic delegation to this country in less than a month after German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier attended Lula’s assumption on January 1.
Scholz will arrive in Brasilia after passing through Argentina and Chile and will be the first foreign leader to make an official visit to Brazil after Lula was installed in office for the third time.
