The Argentine Foreign Ministry said Guillermo Carmona, Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and South Atlantic, met in New York with Csaba Korosi, UN General Assembly (UNGA) President, and Miroslav Jenca, representative for Europe, Central Asia and the Americas.
Carmona expressed Argentina’s interest in the mission of good offices entrusted to the UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres to bring the parties together and promote talks on sovereignty dispute.
Furthermore, he reiterated Argentina´s willingness to collaborate with such efforts and find a peaceful and definitive solution to the dispute.
He also informed of recent deployment of the so-called Kosovo Armed Forces, which contravenes UNGA resolutions on the Falkland Islands and the nature of the South Atlantic as a peace and cooperation zone.
Carmona delivered a note from Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero addressed to Guterres, in which he expresses his rejection to such action in Argentine territory illegally occupied by the United Kingdom.
