According to the official, the fightings are very intense as the Ukrainian units try to hold the city, since the loss of it would break their defense along the entire Donbass frontline.
Earlier, another Donetsk government adviser, Igor Kimakovski, reported that Russian troops were entrenched in the outskirts to the south of Ugledar, and that fighting was ongoing, but there were reports of steady advances on Ukrainian positions.
In turn, Gaguin explained that control over Ugledar by Russian forces would stop the supply of ammunition to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Márinka, from where the city of Donetsk is shelled with particular frequency.
