According to the Ministry, during the recent assessment of the preparations, Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen praised the efforts made in recent weeks and urged for the completion of the preliminary program, without neglecting any detail.
“We must rise to the occasion. The summit will be held when we are emerging from a challenging situation,” Mekonnen commented in reference to the implementation period of the agreement to restore peace in the nation’s northern region.
The upcoming sessions of the Union will create an opportunity to show the countries of Africa and the rest of the world our true reality, he added.
Unlike other times, when the summit took place on the first week of the second month of the year, Addis Ababa will host the 36th Summit and the 42nd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the body from February the 15th to 19th.
