Cuba: Vital bringing knowledge closer to goods and services

Havana, Jan 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Deputy Prime Minister, Inés María Chapman, considered today vital to bring knowledge derived from innovation to the production of goods and services.

The calculation of an alternative global index is important, Chapman stressed during the meeting of the Inter-institutional Council of the Science, Technology and Innovation Macroprogram.

She recalled that the nation is guided by six strategic axes made up of projects and programs aimed at closing cycles and creating proposals.

There are already results in the formation of companies, and we must closely follow the issue of infrastructures, access to credit, the use of knowledge and see how capacities impact results, in addition to generalizing everything related to patents, she pointed out.

It is up to the provinces to work on collecting information so that, based on this, they can measure the indicators.

We must be accountable with indicators, because it is what people are asking for, we are public servants, and we work to promote the economic and social development of the country, said the deputy prime minister of Cuba.

The provinces -Chapman insisted- must analyze the information to see how far the socioeconomic development of a territory is progressing, even at the municipal level.

Another topic discussed at the meeting was the doctoral training scholarship program, for which Chapman asked for speed so that it reaches the executive as quickly as possible, it is approved and put into operation.

If it is necessary to have more specialists in this effort, we will do it, because it is aimed at young people, so that they can consolidate their professional training in Cuba, she pointed out.

The doctoral training scholarship program in Cuba will motivate the talented young man and contribute to the nation’s scientific reserve, assured Chapman.
