During a speech before the heads of state of the EAEUThem the Russian President stated that close integration within the organization is a dignified response to world problems.
Putin specified that these problems are poverty, climate change, the shortage of resources, including the most important of them such as food, water and energy, all of which were exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of illegal sanctions by a number of countries.
“It is clear that the EAEU can be the center of gravity for all those states that share our values and seek to cooperate with the union,” Putin stressed.
He reminded that, starting from this 1st of January, Russia chairs the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, the Intergovernmental Economic Council and the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Putin praised the pace of development of the formation since its foundation back in 2015, noting that the EAEU is developing safely and has proved its efficiency and necessity.
The absolute volume of mutual trade of the member states of the Union increased by 60 percent during this period and reached a historical maximum of 73,100 million dollars in 2021, while foreign trade increased by 46 percent up to 846,300 million dollars. The growth of the total Gross Domestic Product per capita amounted to 28.7 percent, and the proportion of payments in national currency was close to 75 percent, the Russian president explained.
