President of Egypt will visit India

New Delhi, Jan 21 (Prensa Latina) The Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, will make his second state visit to India between January 24th and 26th at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

A high-level delegation integrated by five ministers and senior officials will accompany El-Sissi, who is the main guest at India’s 74th Republic Day celebrations, which will see the participation of a military contingent from the Egyptian army.

The Egyptian president visited India on October 2015 to participate in the third India-Africa Forum Summit and paid a state visit on September 2016.

El-Sissi will be welcomed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan presidential residence on January 25th; the president, Droupadi Murmu, will host a state banquet in his honor that same evening. He will then hold a bilateral meeting and also a delegation-level talk with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will receive the Egyptian ruler, who will also interact with the Indian business community at a business event.

The two countries enjoy warm and friendly relations marked by civil, cultural and economic ties, as well as deeply rooted interpersonal ties.

During the 2021-22 fiscal year, India-Egypt trade reached a record $7.26 billion dollars. Over 50 Indian companies invested around 3.15 billion dollars in various sectors of the Egyptian economy, including chemicals, energy, textiles, clothing, agribusiness, retail, among others.
