Lula will arrive from Argentina, which he will visit and where he will participate in the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of both countries are working on the agenda for Lula’s official visit, but President Lacalle Pou announced that he will insist on the purpose of opening Uruguay to the world beyond the restrictions imposed by the rules of the Southern Common Market.
Issues such as trade, energy exports and the fight against drug trafficking and other security issues will be among the talks that both statesmen will hold at the official presidential residence of Suárez and Reyes.
The official visit will conclude with a meeting between delegations from both countries and a lunch.
Lula will later visit former president José Mujica, who is preparing a proposal for Latin American integration that he wants to present to the leaders of the region.
