During his visit to the Maldives, Jaishankar will meet with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and will hold talks with the head of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Both sides will sign agreements related to bilateral development cooperation, and several key projects supported by New Delhi that will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
In Sri Lanka, Jaishankar will meet President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
He will also hold talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry on the full range of the close bilateral partnership and steps to strengthen it in all spheres.
Both the Maldives and Sri Lanka are India’s key maritime neighbors in the Indian Ocean region and hold a special place in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Security and Growth for All in the area and the government’s policy of ‘Neighborhood First’.
