Serbia asks EU to respond to seizure of its land

Belgrade, Jan 17 (Prensa Latina) On Tuesday, Petar Petkovic, Director of the Serbian government's Office for Kosovo and Metohija, called on the European Union (EU) to respond to the seizure of its lands by authorities in Pristina.

I informed EU Special Representative for Western Balkan issues Miroslav Lajcak about Pristina’s decision to seize Serbian lands in Leposavić, Petkovic wrote on his Twitter account.

According to him, Serbs are aware that last time dispossession led to the construction of illegal bases in those lands.

Prime Minister of the unrecognized Kosovo Albin Kurti again causes the crisis with unilateral moves to the detriment of the Serbian people; we expect a reaction from the EU, Petkovic tweeted.

Tensions in Kosovo and Metohija escalated on December 6, 2022, when special forces of the unrecognized region started to take over the premises of election commissions in the country’s northern district.

The situation stabilized on December 28 after the EU and the United States granted guarantees, and Pristina began to release detained Serbs.
