Cofepris, one of the most prestigious scientific entities in Mexico, gave voice to different national and foreign experts so that they could present their researches on this harmful device and the analyses related to the health risks caused by toxic substances inhaled during the combustion process of all these devices.

In its scientific journal, the commission informs the population about the development of lung diseases caused by these devices and the Mexican Government’s actions to address health risks.

Issues such as the advertising deception with which e-cigarettes are promoted as an alternative to avoid smoking and the scientific study conducted by the National Reference Laboratory of COFEPRIS are also addressed.

The content of the substances used in those devices was, for the first time, analyzed.

Cofepris maintains health surveillance actions in the country so as to discontinue establishments and vending machines that do not comply with the regulations; also to carry out the confiscation of irregular substances and devices.
