The information was announced in an official notice issued at the end of a special meeting of that Committee, which stated that Xuan Phuc was released from the aforementioned positions and the presidency of the National Defense and Security Council (2021-2026), responding to a personal request.
According to the note, cited by Vietnam News, Xuan Phuc is an essential Party and State leader. He was born into a family with rich revolutionary traditions and grew from grassroots to important leadership positions.
Between 2016 and 2021, he served as prime minister and made great efforts to lead, direct and manage the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic, thus achieving significant results.
Nguyen Xuan Phuc, 69, was a member of the CPV Central Committee and the Political Bureau.
He was a deputy to the National Assembly for several terms.
