The event occurred at noon this Sunday while maintenance work was being carried out at the Panjin Haoye Chemical company. The firefighters managed to completely control the fire around 9:00 p.m. local time.

The causes of the incident are still unknown. Preliminary assessments considered the presence of volatile compounds in the environment near the plant to be normal and also ruled out air contamination.

The local government is directing the rescue operations while demanding that the event be investigated in depth and prioritizing the lives of those affected and the health of the public.
