Cuba reiterates its commitment to multilateralism from G77+China

Havana, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said on Saturday that Cuba, from the presidency of the Group of 77 plus China (G77+China), reiterates its commitment to multilateralism and will support the efforts of the United Nations.

On his Twitter account, the head of Cuban diplomacy noted that the Caribbean nation will also accompany the United Nations in light of the obstacles and challenges faced by the international community in terms of development and that particularly affect the most vulnerable countries.

Rodríguez shared in his tweet the considerations of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres about the group, which he described as “an example of multilateralism in action.”

In many ways, Guterres added, it reflects the very purpose of the UN, while praising Pakistan’s “skillful leadership of the group over the past year” and congratulating Cuba, who recently assumed the presidency.

Composed of 134 of the 193 UN members, the group, which represents about 80 percent of the global population, was established on June 15, 1964, in Geneva.
