The show is a metaphor about the origins of a culture, based on a sample of the evolution of the repertoire with choreographies marked by the search for identity, the company informed.
The program consists of “Portal” by Spanish choreographer Juanjo Arques; “Faun” by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui (Belgium), inspired by the original classic in the history of ballet; and “Performance” by Micaela Taylor (United States), which mixes contemporary dance with hip-hop elements.
The program also proposes an approach to “Alrededor no hay nada” (There is Nothing around) by Goyo Montero (Spain), which was staged by the company in its debut seven years ago.
According to the company’s press director, Lester Vila, the soundtrack consists of poems by Spanish musician Joaquín Sabina and Brazilian Vinicius de Moraes; in the voices of their authors.
“Raices” will be on stage on January 14 and 15, and will mark the beginning of a year of tours in Cuba and worldwide, including the United Kingdom, where they will perform in late this month.
