Third Covid-19 booster dose to be administrated in Cuban province

Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Preparations to administer the third Covid-19 booster dose of homegrown vaccines are making progress in this central Cuban province, Dyanelys Vázquez, head of vaccination at the Hygiene and Epidemiology Unit of the territory, informed on Friday.

According to Prensa Latina, nearly 50,000 people aged 70 and older, vulnerable groups, and health and tourism workers, among others, will receive the booster dose.

Vázquez explained that all the healthcare centers foreseen for the vaccination have already been certified, while personnel involved in the program are being trained.

The vaccine will be administered only to those who have completed six months of the second booster dose.

People who have an acute respiratory disease can receive it when they recover from the infectious process.

In June 2022, a second booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine began to be administrated in the territory, and more than 150,000 people were immunized, especially those aged 50 and older.
