Gang who was received at the Bole international airport by the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister, Demeke Mekonnen, will hold meetings with senior local officials pursuing further deepening relationship between the two countries, according to a statement from the Government Communication Service.
He is also scheduled to speak with the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and will attend the inauguration of the project for the new headquarters of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC-Africa).
The Chinese official agenda in Africa should end on January 16th and includes visits to Gabon, Angola, Benin and Egypt. In Cairo, he will participate in a meeting with the presidency of the League of Arab States.
Announcing the tour, the Chinese Foreign Ministry explained that its goal is to “strengthen the Africa-China strategic partnership and further boost cooperation.”
Last week, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia reaffirmed that the Ethiopian government is committed in consolidating and diversifying relations with the Chinese government and people.
In a congratulatory letter sent to Qin Gang, on his recent appointment, Demeke Mekonnen said that during Qin´s tenure, Ethiopia desires the increase of a comprehensive, strategic and cooperative partnership with China.
