The chairman of the Congress’ Peace Commission (bicameral) listed several elements including the report of the United Nations Verification Mission to the Security Council, which shows indisputable progress in peace.
In his quarterly report on the implementation of the Peace Agreement, UN Secretary-General (UNSG) António Guterres stated Petro’s government has taken “significant steps” to curb violence nationwide, while praising the role played by High Commissioner Danilo Rueda in holding talks with separate armed groups operating in the country.
“After more than 100 days of the new Government, several events described in this report speak of its determination to move towards peace in Colombia,” Guterres told the UN Security Council (UNSC).
