Schmid is in favor of Russia remaining as member of the OSCE from the current perspective, highlighted a note released on Monday by Sputnik news agency.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitri Kuleba has repeatedly proposed the exclusion of Russia from the organization, which brings together 57 nations from Europe, Central Asia and North America.
For Schmid, the OSCE is the only organization that unites actors involved in the European security architecture.
Last November, Poland, which has the rotating presidency of the entity, denied visa to the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Serguei Lavrov, who was planning to attend the ministerial meeting that the organization held on December 1st and 2nd, 2022.
The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the action of the Polish authorities and accused them of hindering a possible dialogue on the situation in Ukraine.
