According to local authorities, the attack targeted the thermoelectric plant, and although there were no casualties among the population, the emergency services are working on the scene.

The Zuyevka plant is located near the city of Zugres, 40 kilometers east of Donetsk, and supplies electricity to several settlements in the republic.

The government of Donetsk region reported previously that the Starobeshevskaya thermal power plant was damaged as a result of an attack by Ukrainian forces on Sunday. It is said that two persons may be trapped under the rubble.

According to Donetsk’s representation before the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of War Crimes Related Issues of Ukraine, the attack was carried out with a multiple rocket launcher system.

A total of six rockets were launched at Novy Svet, where the thermal power plant is located.

Starobeshevskaya is one of the largest power facilities of the Donetsk People’s Republic; it was built in 1958 and supplies electricity to the central and southern regions.
