The 68-year-old filmmaker’s comments come a day after the Republican leader’s vote in the House of Representatives, where Kevin McCarthy failed to get the required 218 votes in three consecutive ballots to secure the president’s gavel in 118th Congress.

“What happened yesterday was incredible,” said Moore, a fierce critic of former President Donald Trump (2017-2021).

The Republican side still looks like a mess, and I reckon I was enjoying the embarrassing moment, he added,

In a post to his nearly 6 million Twitter followers, the documentarian called Republican lawmakers “insurgent-loving traitors.”

Moore said he considered the fourth round of voting expected on Wednesday to be a must-see TV show.

“I’m going to cancel everything today, I’m just going to sit and watch this, the best comedy of the year,” he said.

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, criticized the inability of Republicans to choose the new leader of the Lower House and described their public fights as an embarrassment for the country.

“It does not give a good image. It is not a good thing,” Biden remarked to journalists from the White House gardens before traveling to Kentucky, where he will participate in an act on infrastructure. For the president, the show with the blockade in the Lower House is not his “problem,” but he lamented that “the rest of the world is seeing it.”

Previous House Speakers Nancy Pelosi (Democrat-Calif.) and John Boehner (Republican-Ohio) won office with just 216 ballots each in 2021 and 2015, respectively.

The last time multiple ballots were held to elect the Speaker of the House was in 1923.
