This measure was announced by the Ministry of Health at the end of 2022 and has already become part of the resolution published by the Official State Gazette (BOE, in Spanish), through which control measures are established.
According to this ministry, the epidemiological situation in China has significantly deteriorated due to Covid-19, and new variants of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes this pandemic, are feared.
This measure targets passengers flying from continental China, but not flights coming from other territories such as Hong Kong.
This situation also coincides with the lifting of travel restrictions in that country as of Jan.8, 2023, and the celebration of its New Lunar Year on January 22.
Foreign Health groups, in coordination with the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and the Urban Agenda through Spanish Airports and Air Navigation will be in charge of supervising health controls at the entry terminals to Spain, consisting of a documentary, visual and temperature control.
