Scheduled from February 9 to 19, 2023, the 31st edition of the International Book Fair, Cuba 2023, will show more than 4,000 titles during the 10-day event, ICL President Juan Rodriguez Cabrera said at a recent press conference.
He highlighted the inclusion of 1,200 digital texts, in line with the strategy developed five years ago related to producing eBooks and audiobooks to promote Cuba’s contemporary literature and its authors. According to Rodriguez Cabrera, the price of books will be subsidized, as usual, in order to promote reading, so the books dedicated to children, young people, and educational support will cost 25 pesos (CUP), and novels, essays or others 50 pesos (CUP).
The book fair will be held in several venues in Havana, including Casa de las Americas, the National Association of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), the National Library, the Dulce Maria Loynaz Center, the Cuba Pavilion, the Finca de los Monos Technological Palace and several areas in the Havana’s historic heart.
The literary event will pay tribute to Fina García Marruz and Antonio Núñez Jiménez on their 100th birthdays, and will praise the work done by bibliographer Araceli García Carranza and writer Julio Travieso Serrano, the latter winner of the 2021 National Literature Award.
