Besides the fact that the region is the world leader regarding recovery, its countries are welcoming hundreds of thousands international holidaymakers for the winter season, CHTA President Nicola Madden-Greig, said.
She said that the reduction in the threat posed by Covid-19 from very high to moderate-low in the Caribbean is good news for the sector before the beginning of the holiday and high seasons, media reported. She noted that this is an example of their successful handling of the pandemic and added the permanent commitment of the tourism sector to guarantee safe and seamless vacation experiences.
The CHTA president praised the tourism industry in this region, local government authorities and the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) for its surveillance and collaboration.
She also commended hoteliers and tourism and healthcare staffers for strictly complying with prevention protocols recommended by CARPHA in collaboration with this association and Caribbean governments.
The state of alert in the form of an appropriate surveillance, effective protocols and a higher vaccination coverage by the hospitality industry, tourism and institutions allowed most nations of this region to recover in 2022, she said.
