In a press release, Health Minister Luis Francisco Sucre affirmed the patient was diagnosed a few weeks ago, although the patient has already overcome the symptoms.

The first mpox patient was confirmed on July 5, 2022, and as of last Wednesday (December 21), out of 78 cases detected, 13 remained active.

He stated that the sixth Covid-19 wave is under control, however, he highly recommended population to be fully vaccinated and to self-care as health measures to mitigate coronavirus transmission.
