The average number of cases per day from November to December went from 3.7 to 19.1, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP). Therefore, measures to curb the spread of the virus have been taken.
MINSAP advised people to wear face masks in shops, sales fairs, public transportation, movie theaters, theaters and indoor places.
It also recommended visiting the doctor immediately in case of respiratory symptoms, and if a family member has such symptoms, some measures have to be taken, such as distancing and protection at home.
People should constantly wash their hands and avoid social places if they have symptoms caused by the coronavirus. Surveillance measures should be increased in nursing homes, schools and other institutions with high concentration of people.
MINSAP also recommended administering drugs such as Nasalferon to risk groups.
It suggested the administration of new booster shots in vaccination schemes.
The highest transmission levels in December occurred in the provinces of Havana, Matanzas, Guantanamo and Holguin, with 62.4 percent of Covid-19 cases in Cuba.
MINSAP added that 207 patients have died of Covid-19 this year, so the lethality rate stands at 0.14 percent, and no one has died of the disease in 18 consecutive weeks, said MINSAP, which was quoted by the Granma daily.
