The Syrian Foreign Ministry said in a press release that Al-Mekdad reaffirmed in a phone call condemnation of hostile Western campaigns against the Russian Federation, and attempts to undermine its national security.

The Russian role in the international arena is key to confronting Western hegemony projects and hitting a multipolar world order for the interests and security of all, Al-Mekdad stressed, while considering the United States and allies are currently intending to prolong the Ukraine war to favor their own interests.

Lavrov, on the other hand, reiterated his country’s stance in support of Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

The Russian foreign minister thanked Syria’s supportive stance towards Russia regarding its special military operation in Ukraine.

During the phone conversation, the Syrian minister explained the economic issues his country is presently facing up as a result of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States and allies.
