Speaking at President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s morning press conference at the National Palace, this official cited an article by the prestigious British group The Lancet Discovery Science, published in its journal eClinicalMedicine about Abdala, in which it extols its great virtues.

Lopez-Gatell recalled that the SARS-CoV2 viruses have a high mutation and their different variants can affect the effectiveness of vaccines. Laboratories are talking about the effective time of their vaccines in terms of protection, but everything is theoretical since the effective delay of them has not been proven.

He said that it is important to highlight that, in general, current vaccines are still protective against the virus and its mutations, but there are few like the Cuban ones, such as the Abdala and the Pfizer, as Lancet published in its scientific article in September.

He explained that it is a very complete study of the few vaccines subject to such a wide and rigorous level of scientific exploration, which proves its high effectiveness above 93 percent and “the confidence we have in including it in our vaccination scheme due to its great capacity and stability thanks to its molecular design.”

He explained that Abdala is highly consistent due to its innovative technology proven in the population, very stable, and praised Cuba for having other vaccines of its own and maintaining the highest capacities to create vaccines of robust effectiveness in the population.

He stressed that it is one of the countries with the highest vaccination capacity in many programs, not only Covid-19, and many of the vaccines and methods invented in Cuba appear as vaccination models in this and other continents, a truth that not even the harmful ‘infodemic’ has been able to hide.
