Also on Twitter, Cuban writer Abel Prieto, president of the Havana-bases Casa de las Americas (House of the Americas) described Amaury Perez as a singer, great songwriter, great poet, surprising novelist and brilliant conversationalist.
“He remains an eternal teenager, mischievous, legitimate heir of Lezama’s Angel de la Jiribilla. Many congratulations, my brother, I love you very much,” he tweeted.
A founding member of the New Song Movement, his songs are close to jazz and pop, others are mixed with rock music, and his most recent line of creation is based on the romantic song genre.
According to experts, he is one of Cuba’s major composers from the second half of the 20th century and, in addition to being a performer, he is also a record producer, writer, scriptwriter, radio, show business and television host.
In April, 2022, the Bis Music record label presented “Casi todo Amaury,” an anthology of songs that covers more than 40 years of this renowned Cuban musician’s artistic career.
The release consists of three double albums that compile Perez’s musical work since the 1970s to the 2010s, as well as an album of collaborations with renowned Cuban musicians.
