The resident representative of the UNDP in Ethiopia, Turhan Saleh, said that the specialized advice, the exchange of knowledge and experiences, which includes economic institutions, governance and social organizations, will continue.
“We are with Ethiopia until the end,” he said in an interview with the Ethiopian News Agency, before reiterating that the agency will extend “contribution of knowledge, expertise and practices, all with very positive global results.”
“We are investing directly in the generation of employment through micro, small and medium-sized companies. We will continue to help so that future generations can benefit and economy may boost, he said.
Saleh stressed that the immediate steps are aimed at favoring the construction of peace in Ethiopia.
“We will also help to rehabilitate the areas affected by the confrontation between the federal government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front.”
According to his opinion, “the peace agreement signed in Pretoria, South Africa (last November 2), is an opportunity for Ethiopia to turn its face towards development”, because “without security and stability it is impossible to prosper.”
As he pointed out, the national dialogue is something significant for the Program and also for the United Nations, because it is very important to address structural and political problems, among others.
“We received the government’s request to support the development of the national dialogue and we have already projected a strategy to do so,” he assured.
