At the presentation on Monday night of the campaign of the Labor Party (ABLP), the prime minister informed that candidates will be nominated on December 28 and called to guarantee the return of that force to power.
Browne added that he had sent a letter to his Excellency, Sir Rodney Williams (general governor) on Friday, requesting the dissolution of Parliament, which he did.
Rest assured that in the general elections the members of the United Progressive Party (UPP, in the opposition) will cry and gnash their teeth, the prime minister told his supporters.
The last general elections were held here on March 21, 2018, and Browne’s ABLP won 15 of 17 seats. The UPP and the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) won the remaining two seats.
Over 52,000 people of Antigua and Barbuda’s nearly 99,000 inhabitants were called to the polls then to renew the Senate and the House of Representatives.
