A released statement stresses that over twenty persons have died in Peru, mostly young people.
“We stand in solidarity with the Peruvian people, the victims and their families, fighting for a peaceful solution and for a Latin America as a zone of peace, independent, integrated and with social justice,” says the statement.
It denounces the “serious situation created by the oligarchic minorities and their representatives in the Fujimorism, the most radical right, considering it responsible in the first instance for the events in Peru.
The Committee called for the constitution of national dialogue tables, the holding of new elections and a constituent assembly in response to popular demands.
It also urged to stop the repression and crimes of the State immediately, “the only possible way out before a Congress completely discredited, as it lacks of popular support.”
