St. Vincent and the Grenadines reports two Covid-19 deaths

Kingstown, Dec 19 (Prensa Latina) For the first time in several months, St. Vincent and the Grenadines has reported two more Covid-19 deaths, according to an official source.

The deaths happened past week amid a spike in cases in line with similar increases in North America and the United Kingdom, said the Health Services Subcommittee of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).

Two fully vaccinated people, a 73-year-old woman and an 82-year-old man, died in the past seven days, bringing the country´s overall death toll to 108.

Meanwhile, 22 new coronavirus cases were confirmed, bringing active cases to 32, NEMO added in a press release.

In view of present situation, the Health Ministry highly recommended the proper and systematic mask-wearing, social distancing whenever possible, proper hand-washing and appropriate immunization with available vaccines, especially for vulnerable people.

The Health Ministry also reminded population of following “all proven public health precautionary measures to guarantee that we all enjoy a healthy and happy Christmas 2022”. These measures include to avoid cigarette smoking and reducing alcohol, salt, sugar and fatty foods consumption, to wash hands, fruits and vegetables thoroughly, NEMO stressed.
