The agreement, penned in the Russian capital, states that both parties seek to foster friendly relations in the spheres of the media.
They will also be willing to expand cooperation in the field of information exchange on the basis of equality, respect, and mutual benefit.
TV BRICS General Director Janna Tolstikova said at the signing ceremony that she felt very honored to collaborate with Prensa Latina because it is a very reliable and far-reaching source of information.
She stressed that it is really important for the BRICS media network to have access to original content from Cuba to distribute it among the bloc’s member countries and increase knowledge in those nations about Cuba and its opportunities in business and culture.
Tolstikova pointed out that they were willing to share Prensa Latina’s content with their partners in Russia, as well as in China, Brazil, India, and South Africa because they worked as a communication center.
“If you put your content on TV BRICS, you have and get access from an audience in five countries and even more because we call ourselves TV BRICS, but we are not limited to the BRICS nations,” Tolstikova noted.
She added that it is also a good opportunity to get original content because some stories told by local journalists are more attractive to foreign audiences as they express the local point of view.
For her part, Prensa Latina Information Vice President Luisa Maria Gonzalez said in a teleconference that this important agreement will allow exchanging information and work done in different languages, which will help broaden the perspectives of both media organizations.
Gonzalez stated that it is a relationship that is just beginning, but that it will have a lot of solidity and many years of life.
She noted that for Prensa Latina, it is a sign of willingness to renew its news offer, since for more than 60 years the news agency has maintained the will to transmit its contents with more objectivity and veracity, as well as closer to facts.
