The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed official concern for the deaths of 18 people during a wave of demonstrations across the country, which forced the Executive in Lima to decree a state of emergency for 60 days in seven southern provinces, HOY newspaper added.
Paraguay follows up on the situation in Peru and reiterates its call for inclusive and respectful dialogue among all sectors, “the best tool to channel the citizens’ demands and guarantee social peace,” the official press release stated.
The text recalled that the Paraguayan Government was one of the first in the region to request, through an official note on December 7, “constructive talks” among all stakeholders and political forces in Peru.
The statement called to “preserve democracy and its institutions in favor of stability and pacification in that brother country.”
