The Argentinean player was supported by Agencia Telam, from Argentina, and Cuba’s radio station CMKC Radio Revolucion, which gave him four votes.

This places him in the fourth position behind the so-far winner in the category of Best Latin American male athlete of the season, Brazilian runner Alison dos Santos.

Moreover, the Argentine men’s soccer team won votes after adding these two, in a contest that is momentarily led by the Argentinean basketball team, with seven votes.

Among women, Telam chose Mexican golfer Gabriela Lopez, its first vote, while CMKC chose Venezuela’s triple jumper Yulimar Rojas, the leader in the women’s category with 15 votes.

The voting period will close on December 22, and the results will be announced one day later.
