Honduran Foreign Minister Enrique Raina and UN representative Miroslav Jenča signed the deal for the International Mission Against Corruption and Impunity in Honduras (CICIH) on Thursday.
The Honduran head of State, who attended the signing of the memorandum along with UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres, expressed that CICIH will be installed independently and fairly.
“We reached agreements to select international experts to investigate high-impact public-private corruption networks that have plundered the country,” Castro wrote on Twitter.
Last month, former Honduran President and presidential advisor Manuel Zelaya told reporters that CICIH should be installed in the country as soon as possible to investigate all suspicions of corruption.
