Cuban parliament to dedicate an extraordinary session to ALBA-TCP

Havana, Dec 14 (Prensa Latina) On Wednesday, the last day of debates in the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) of Cuba, will have a space committed to the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP).

From the Havana-based Conference Center, the Council of State convened, on Sunday, December 11, the sixth extraordinary session of the government body, in its 9th Legislature, on the occasion of the bloc’s 18th anniversary,

In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, parliamentarian Alberto Núñez, secretary of the International Relations Commission and director of Trabajadores newspaper, praised the initiative that recalls the legacy of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and the late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez. He also assured that the space would show the significance of this region’s integration mechanism and the result of its alternative proposals for member nations in a regional context of the emergence of progressive and leftist governments.

Núñez assessed the relevance of evoking each anniversary of the group, founded in 2004, and the transcendence of ALBA-TCP, devoted to the welfare and representation of the peoples in the face of neoliberal policies, interferences, and destabilization attempts promoted by third countries.

This Wednesday, Cuban lawmakers will also analyze the draft Law of the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic, hear the opinion of the Commission that deals with Constitutional and Legal Affairs and the Agro-food Commission, and the characteristics of the draft Law for the Promotion and Development of Livestock.
