According to the Saudi News Agency, bin Salman affirmed the Kingdom’s enthusiasm for Lebanon’s security and stability in light of the economic crisis and the presidential vacuum.
In the talks, the two sides stressed the importance of electing the new leader of the Lebanese Republic and implementing the reforms the people and the international community are hoping for.
During the reception, Miqati expressed his continued gratitude and appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s historical positions towards Lebanon and essential role in establishing national reconciliation.
In this regard, the head of the Lebanese government highlighted the adoption of the National Reconciliation Document at the 1989 Taif Conference, which ended the civil war (1975-1990) by establishing a power-sharing formula based on quotas that gives each of the major religious communities (Muslim and Christian) 64 seats in Parliament.
Miqati traveled to Riyadh to participate in the first Arab-China Summit, organized on Friday by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and President Xi Jinping.
