After mass demonstrations, rioters called for the dismissal of the new government, release of ousted president Pedro Castillo, dissolution of Congress, and the call for new elections and a constituent assembly.
Demonstrations were violently repressed on Saturday, especially in Andahuaylas city, in the southern Andean region of Apurimac, where four people were injured, one seriously-ill.
Marchers held two non-commissioned police officers for a few hours and at nightfall peasants from nearby communities went back to their villages to take to the streets on Monday.
The National Human Rights Coordinator said the law enforcement is committing illegal actions in their operations against demonstrations including firing metal pellets, which is banned.
Mobilizations were also reported in Ica, Trujillo and Huaral coastal cities, and in the southern cities of Arequipa and Tacna, the Amazonian cities of Iquitos and Madre de Dios.
