Arab-China Summit qualified as historic event (+Photos)

Riyadh, Dec 9 (Prensa Latina) Heads of State and prime ministers today described the celebration here of the first Arab-China Summit, under the organization of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and President Xi Jinping, as a historic event.

Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch stressed that the meeting was an important turning point in relations between the two sides and an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Arab world and Beijing. During his intervention in the debate, Akhannouch stressed the need to respect the principles of good neighborliness and national sovereignty of states, their territorial integrity and refrain from interference in internal affairs.

At the same time, he pointed out that China’s support for the Palestinian cause is a valuable international gain and endorsed the One China policy as the basis of relations between the two friendly countries and support for the initiatives put forward by the Asian giant.

For his part, his Iraqi counterpart, Muhammad Shia ‘al-Sudani, pointed out that the Arab-China Summit for Cooperation and Development in Riyadh constituted an opportunity for political and economic integration in the region by strengthening ties with Beijing and benefiting of them in various fields.

Al-Sudani added that Iraq hopes to strengthen the partnership within the Belt and Road initiative and in the sectors of investment, energy and infrastructure projects as a reflection of the level of cooperation between the two countries.

In this line of thought, President Mahmoud Abbas thanked Xi for his vision and his firm and solidarity positions on the rights of the Palestinian people and the programs he provides for development cooperation and assistance.

Najib Miqati, Prime Minister of Lebanon, added that Sino-Arab relations are rising to an unprecedented level, opening up prospects for joint action based on mutually beneficial and successful cooperation for the whole world.

The head of the interim government stressed that the nation of cedars will work to activate ties with the Asian giant and its Arab brothers.

Speaking, the Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, expressed his hope that the meeting would consolidate relations between China and the Arab Levant.

He stressed that the Belt and Road strategy put forward by Asian leaders represents a practical model of cooperation, interdependence and development.

The final declaration of the first Arab-China summit in Riyadh agreed on a joint action plan for the period 2023-2027 with an emphasis on continuing dialogue and supporting international economic recovery.

The meeting was attended by authorities from the Arab League, Algeria, Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Djibouti, Palestine, as well as China and the host, Saudi Arabia.
