The event will take place for two days in the colonial house on San Ignacio St. and Empedrado St., right next to the emblematic Cathedral Square of Habana, where relatives, speakers, lecturers, and scholars of Cuban pictorial art will approach the surrealist master.
The campaign on Lam’s 120th birthday was launched in October and was inspired by the most distinguished of Cuban painters who, according to experts, was recognized as a visionary and a rehabilitator for his time, as well as a fighter against banality.
Lam’s art and his universal dimension also permeated cinema through documentaries such as Wifredo Lam, by Humberto Solas (1941-2008).
According to researchers, Lam moved into the realm of subjectivity, but also inspired those around him and successive generations of painters, both nationally and internationally.
After the theoretical event, several publications with the most select in writing will be launched on social networks to continue the tribute to such a great personality of Cuban art.
