According to a communiqué, the drug traffickers were captured and their weapons confiscated, while the parties involved in the action are being investigated.
Syrian authorities intensified their operations against criminal networks and arrested 6,408 people involved in nearly 5,000 cases of drug consumption and trafficking during the first six months of the year.
The Government has repeatedly denied accusations by some Western countries that it supports drug trafficking and has attributed the seizure of large amounts of drugs to Syria’s geographical location, which made it a transit country between producers and consumers.
Authorities also assured that the increase in consumption is due to the complex political and security conditions and the use of narcotics as one of the tools of terrorism.
The aim is to destroy the pillars of stability and sow chaos in the country.
