Portal explained that in 2009, after first Operation Miracle patients arrived in Cuba, Cuban medical collaboration with Barbados began.
Cuba is committed to health cooperation in the Caribbean, specifically in Barbados, where we have 68 health collaborators, mainly nurses, said Portal.
He added that during the meeting, both delegations expressed their willingness to seek other cooperation openings, taking into account Barbados´ needs and the Cuban availability in terms of human resources.
The Cuban side also assured that it was in a position to continue training Barbadian health professionals at its Medical Sciences Universities, where 38 Barbadians have graduated so far.
Portal highlighted various areas in which they could expand cooperation, including the training of doctors and other specialists in epidemiological situation in the Caribbean.
