The official made the statement upon receiving the head of the Political Directorate of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba, Major General Victor Rojo Ramos, who is visiting Vietnam on an official visit.
Cuong mentioned the difficulties and challenges that the Cuban people have faced in recent times, generated by the blockade of the United States, natural disasters and the Covid-19 pandemic.
“In the last 60 years, and despite many ups and downs in history, relations between Cuba and Vietnam have remained intact as they were at the beginning, while bilateral cooperation has been developed comprehensively in all fields,” Rojo Ramos said.
Both parties spoke about the world situation in both countries and their armed forces and agreed to continue intensifying collaboration in different fields, especially the exchange of high-level delegations and experiences in political tasks and party building.
They also talked about the training of human resources and the increase in outreach education among civil servants and officers of the armed forces about the traditionally friendly relations between the parties, states, and armies of Vietnam and Cuba, among other aspects. At the end of the meeting, Cuong and Rojo Ramos signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding for the exchange of experiences in the areas of party and political work in the army.
