In a statement published Sunday on the official website of the Vatican press office, it is noted that in that meeting with the delegation of the referred educational and religious center of Conservative Judaism, the Supreme Pontiff considered that “if no weapons were manufactured for a year, famine in the entire world would end”.
Pope Francis also referred to the fact that “when one says these justice-related issues, which prophets continually repeat: the orphan, the widow, the stranger, the poor, isn’t it true? They tell you that you are a communist.”
“They tell me so,” he added, “this Pope, instead of talking about God is just talking about social issues”, and he expressed that both things “go together: justice, the justice of the heart, in the whole Bible, is always with God and with the neighbor. They go together. In other words, worship and serve, worship and help”.
