The Ministry congratulated Syria and thanked all who participated and supported the preparation of this dossier, especially specialists, musicians, composers, and artisans who love their heritage.
The institution also thanked the Syrian Fund for Development for its outstanding efforts in preparing and reproducing the dossier and for following up with UNESCO authorities. The lute is a traditional stringed musical instrument often played in Syria. It consists of a pear-shaped sound box made of walnut, rose, poplar, ebony, or apricot wood.
Al-Qudad, Aleppo’s traditional songs, was inscribed in 2021 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity in Syria. The planting of the Damascus rose, and related craft practices were included in 2019.
