In a tweet on occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Sharif said that Israel’s persecution and oppressive actions are unparalleled in contemporary history and are emboldened by impunity.
He added that the unresolved Palestinian issue is not just a moral issue, as it has implications for world peace, and stressed that Pakistan supports the two-state solution according to UN resolutions.
On his part, the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, reiterated his tireless support for the Palestine cause against the tyranny and illegal occupation of Israeli forces. “Pakistan has historically supported the legitimate struggle of the Palestinians and will continue to do so,” the dignitary said in his message.
Alvi stressed that collective voices and actions could bring peace and security to the Palestinians, and expressed his hope that justice and fairness will prevail over tyranny and oppression. He also said that Pakistan fully supports the Palestinian position and willingness to negotiate a peace agreement based on internationally recognized terms of reference and pre-1967 borders.
In his view, the agreement must be reached under international supervision, holding the parties accountable and within a determined and binding term, with East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine.
He also noted that for the past seven and a half decades, there has been a systematic and increasing abuse of the Palestinians at the Israelite´s hands.
