UPAEP is an international intergovernmental organization established in 1911, consisting of 28 member countries, and its purpose is to promote technical cooperation for postal development.
It seeks to promote the provision of universal postal services and develop the sector in the region through reform in member countries or territories, transformation, development, and training.
Its objective is to coordinate and promote the exchange of information and knowledge in the operational, regulatory, and governmental spheres.
Improving the quality of service, interconnection, and network security through promoting and applying information and communications technologies is also on the list.
UPAEP sets up actions and strategies within the World Postal Strategy adopted by the Universal Postal Union.
The Cuban delegation to this forum is represented by Deputy Communication Minister Ana Julia López, Correos de Cuba President, Pablo Julio Pla, and Meilam Weng, director of the Ministry of Communications department for postal service.
